On January 28 of this year, a meeting took place with the participation of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, the Rector of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, O.Tuychiev, and an Italian delegation led by the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo.
During the meeting, discussions focused on further strengthening relations between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and innovation, as well as implementing new initiatives.
At the meeting, the Rector of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Olimjon Tuychiev shared his views on the prospects of cooperation between the university and higher education institutions in Italy.
Among the topics discussed were the allocation of a dedicated dormitory for Uzbek students at the main campus of Turin Polytechnic University in Italy, the establishment of an incubator center at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, and the organization of student internships at Italian enterprises. The Rector of Politecnico di Torino, Stefano Corgnati, expressed his support for these initiatives.
Additionally, during the meeting, the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, highly praised Uzbekistan’s economic development and emphasized the importance of transitioning to a new stage of cooperation between Turin and Tashkent. He acknowledged 15 years of successful partnership through the example of Turin Polytechnic University and proposed the development of an “Italy-Uzbekistan Center for Advanced Engineering” in Tashkent.
Representatives of the Italian delegation expressed interest in developing cooperation in personnel training, entrepreneurship, and innovation, implementing joint projects, and collaborating in areas such as energy, environmental protection, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Uzbekistan, Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini, stated that Italy is fully committed to supporting the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and innovation.
This meeting opens up new opportunities for Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and contributes to enhancing the university’s international reputation.
