On August 13, 2025, the 8th Congress of the Trade Union of Workers in the Metallurgical and Mechanical Engineering Industries of Uzbekistan was held at the Training Institute of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

The Congress brought together leaders of major industrial enterprises, sector specialists, heads of partner organizations, and representatives of the wider public. Among the participants were the Rector of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Olimjon Tuychiev, and the Chairwoman of the university’s trade union committee, Fariza Nabikhanova.

During the event, the results of the trade union’s activities over the past five years were reviewed, and priority directions for the future were identified. Through a secret ballot, new leaders were elected to the governing bodies of the trade union, and delegates were nominated for the 9th Congress of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

As part of the Congress, Rector Olimjon Tuychiev delivered a speech in which he addressed the longstanding partnership between Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and the trade union. He highlighted the work carried out in recent years within this cooperation, particularly in the areas of social and spiritual development, wellness, and cultural initiatives for both students and staff. He also emphasized that active participation in the trade union system is of great importance to the university community and contributes to further strengthening mutual cooperation.
