June 26, 2025, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent hosted a scientific-practical roundtable titled”Enhancing the Competitiveness of Network Enterprises in Uzbekistan through the Introduction of Optoelectronics and Fiber-Optic Sensors Based on Italian Experience.”
The event was attended by a delegation led by H.E. Mr. Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Uzbekistan, as well as TTPU Rector O.Tuychiev and university faculty, industry experts, specialists from industrial enterprises, and representatives of various partner organizations and universities.
During the discussion, Professor Alberto Vallan from Politecnico di Torino, a member of the delegation, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the application areas of fiber-optic sensors. He emphasized that such sensors can be effectively used not only in telecommunications but also for monitoring physical indicators such as temperature, pressure, and speed, as well as chemical parameters like pH levels and pollutants. He also highlighted key advantages of these technologies, such as resistance to electromagnetic interference, safety, and the ability to transmit data accurately over long distances.
Participants of the event gained valuable insights into the potential of optical sensor technologies in the fields of industry, environmental monitoring, and healthcare. The advanced solutions presented during the session served as a source of new ideas for ongoing scientific research and practical projects at TTPU and its partner institutions.
