From 2 to 16 August 2026, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, in cooperation with Kempten University of Applied Sciences, Germany, is hosting the international “Summer School Uzbekistan 2026.”
The program aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between students from Uzbekistan and Germany, while introducing them to the economic, technological, and cultural potential of Central Asia.
The introductory lectures focused on Industry 4.0, tourism and cultural heritage, and information and communication technologies.
🏭 Industry 4.0 and modern manufacturing
As part of the program, participants visited the UzAuto Motors Powertrain plant, where they learned about production management, modern technologies, and industrial processes.
Lectures and laboratory sessions were also organized on the following topics:
🔹 the “Design-to-Part” approach;
🔹 project management;
🔹 automation systems;
🔹 hydraulics and pneumatics.
🏛 Tourism and cultural heritage
As part of the summer school’s cultural programme, students are exploring the historical structure, ancient neighbourhoods, and traditional architecture of Tashkent. Participants will visit the Matkarimbay House on Karasaray Street and the Centre for Islamic Civilisation.
In Samarkand, visits will be organised to the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, Registan Square, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and the Shah-i-Zinda complex.
The programme in Bukhara includes a visit to Bukhara State Technical University and presentations on the city’s historical structure and its role along the Great Silk Road. Students will also explore Lyabi-Hauz, Magoki Attori Mosque, the ancient trading domes, the Ismail Samani Mausoleum, Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa Palace, and the Ark of Bukhara.
🤖 ICT, robotics, and cybersecurity
During a visit to the BYD manufacturing plant in Jizzakh, students will learn about modern automotive production processes and the technologies used at the enterprise.
Practical sessions in ICT will cover the following areas:
🔹 PLC programming;
🔹 collaborative robot programming;
🔹 cybersecurity fundamentals;
🔹 cloud computing technologies;
🔹 industrial automation;
🔹 applied mechanics in manufacturing.
💡 International team projects
Throughout the summer school, Uzbek and German students will work together in mixed teams on practical projects. At the end of the programme, the teams will present their projects and results to professors, lecturers, and experts.
The presentations will be followed by discussions, participant evaluation, a certificate-awarding ceremony, and an official group photo.
🤝 At the conclusion of the programme, students and faculty members will discuss future cooperation opportunities, develop proposals for strengthening international academic relations, and take part in a cultural sightseeing tour of Tashkent.
